Today, my cat was hit by a car. I took it to the vet expecting the worst but they told me that she’d be fine. I was so happy I didn't even mind paying the $50 bill. The next morning my cat was dead. Having her put down humanely would have cost $45, I paid $5 extra to have her die in my kitchen. FML

Today, I took my cat to the vet. He said he felt a strange lump that could be serious. I got really upset and picked her up, crying. The vet then told me I had to put her down. Absolutely devastated by having to euthanize my cat, I passed out. He meant I had to put her back on the table. FML

Today, I saved a kitten from the streets, cleaned her up and asked the vet what I should do with her because she was the sweetest thing and my cat has a highly contagious illness. The vet had to put her down. FML

Today, despite me not liking cats, which my wife knew, she got a cat anyway. Her cat went for a walk outside and was hit by a car. I rushed outside to help the cat but found she was already dead, and the culprit had driven away. When my wife found out that her cat was dead, she thought I'd killed her. FML

Today, I had to take my cat to the vet. On the way there, he managed to get out of his cage, climb into the front seat, onto my chest, and howl in my face as I tried to drive down the highway. I ended up with stitches and still got charged for missing my cat's appointment. FML

i'm surprised your bill was only $50, most places that's just a regular consult not even an emergency. and only 45$ for a euthanasia? i don't know how this vet's making money. on the other hand, i don't know why everyone's assuming it was malpractice. your cat got hit by a car, like you said, he was lucky to get out of the hospital. it's call complications. it's sad, life sucks, it's not malpractice

Aww... thats so sad... my cat was hit by a car when I was six and i was devesated. you should talk to your vet and asked how they overlooked something, cause it might have been something s/he couldn't prevent. If they seem clueless, time for a new vet. And #6 - the cat was most likely in pain, so it would have more human to end the suffering. But at least s/he was in a familiar place.

This post made me hurt inside! I'm so sorry for your loss. PLEASE ignore the comments that are disrespectful/heartless. They just don't understand. My cat was having trouble breathing. My vet looked at her and said it was asthma and gave her a shot of steroids. They told me she would be fine. I took her home and she got worse, so I took her back the next morning, and the vet took an x-ray (which they should have done in the first place). It turns out she was having heart failure, and her heart couldn't handle the steroids that they gave her. They told me that she wasn't going to make it, but that they would try to help her. I was devastated. Fortunately, this cat survived SOMEHOW. She's still with me today. My point is that I hated when they told me she was fine, but she was actually having heart failure. I can imagine how you feel. Remember that you're not alone, other people have been through similar situations and have felt exactly how you feel. With time (even though it may take a lot) you'll be ok and it won't hurt as much.

Awe, I'm so sorry! If that happened to my cat I'd be devastated. The veterinarian you took your cat to must have not known what they were doing, I would be pissed and write a complaint to the place. :( So sad.
