Trauma for life

he's still not convinced - - United States

Today, while visiting my mother, she asked my son who his favorite parent was. As a growing boy, he chose his father. I don't mind, except she then asked, "So, whose side are you taking in the divorce?" My husband and I have no marital issues. My son refuses to believe us. FML

Your mother is despicable. Why would she even do that?

She's attempting to plant the seed that will grow into an inevitable divorce. Clever girl.

Who gives a crap about what she thinks? Is your marriage going well? If so, then don't worry about it!

It's probably just one of those cases where the in-laws hate the OP.

Once, when my brothers and I were MUCH younger, this happened to longtime family friends. The ex husband came out for a break, got drunk and rudely and verbally attacked our friends in town and we kicked him out. Later, he did phone and left a profanity filled rant which we hung up on. That was many years ago we are at least friends again even if we don't see each other again.
