I agree, I don't think my Mom needs to be institutionalized but she does take the nicest rejections and turns it into the worst thing I could've possibly done. It's brutal!

Your mother needs a life. Unless she's a celebrity, possesses unique skills, or is some leader of a renowned organization, she's understandably not interested in them. Ellen is too busy to have people's parents on the show.
