Today, I finished doing a resume that I had spent three hours on. I e-mailed it to the business I was applying for, satisfied. I decided to look it over. The first thing I notice, I spelt my own name wrong. FML

That's why you look it over BEFORE sending it. Sorry, but YDI.

Proofread before you click send NOT after! Google has a wealth of knowledge available about a lot of things. Some people should do a little research before they rant about spelling. Just because you were taught something in school in the country where you live does not mean that the rest of the world may be wrong for not using the same spelling. Education is a wonderful thing, try it sometime!

lol that is totaly somthing I'd do lol just look over it BEFOR you send it lol you do alot better

PROOFREADING IS YOUR FRIEND! Read it over before you send it... multiple times if you have time. Though I do know from experience how something stressful as a resume is much easier to proofread after you've already sent it, and that your name isn't always something you think to proofread. But hey, OP, I'm glad you're smarter than all the commenters who think that "spelt" isn't a word.

You also spelled "spelled" incorrectly. Spelt is a word, but it does not mean the past-tense of 'spelled.' It's actually a wheat. Please attempt not to be moronic.

um, spelt was actually the original word, from the English language. But Americans decided to switch it up to make it easier for themselves. Don't act like you know everything. Also like "learnt" is the original past tense of learning. not "learned".

While I agree that "spelt" isn't an incorrect spelling, neither is "shalt." Just because something's a real word doesn't mean you shouldn't get made fun of for using it. Also, I just noticed that fmylife.com's spell check doesn't like "spelt", yet has no problem with "shalt." Odd...

SPELLED LEARNED SPELLED LEARNED SPELLED LEARNED SPELLED LEARNED SPELLED LEARNED

same thing as, SPELT LEARNT SPELT LEARNT SPELT LEARNT learn your English.

It raint yesterday. It smelt so fresh that I drunk from the sewage stream. The chemicals made me really high, and I learnt that language evolves with us, and changing the way things are spelt is a natural progression which our common definitions are forced to change with.
