They'll go at night

Today, my daughter asked me why NASA hasn't gone to the sun yet. She's seventeen. FML

I thought Poland did? I heard they went at night.

She doesn't seem to be so... ... wait on it .... ... bright.

No, that's a really good question! Stars teach us a lot of stuff about how the entire galaxy work, and the Sun is the nearest star, so yes, NASA has been trying to get as close to the Sun as possible for a LONG time. Current efforts involve trying to figure out a new material to stand up to plasma, but we've already got a few probes nearby to give us all sorts of readings--so while *people* can't go to the Sun, robots probably WILL someday!
