My mom angrily told me that I should have waited until my grandparents had died before coming out, and that I was "extremely disrespectful" for making this announcement. Today, my friend, who is gay, announced that he's getting married. I implored him to not invite my parents and (especially) my grandma, for reasons that I'm sure you can figure out, but he did anyway. Long story short, he's inconsolable. What excellent parents I have. FML

I kind of disagree. I feel like people are grasping the fact of where the OP would meet the male more than the fact that she's a lesbian. I mean, she would post an FML if he was going to meet her at a dinner, but she probably wouldn't post an FML if she was straight and going to meet him at a family reunion. If granny is so old fashioned that she can't handle the fact her granddaughter is a lesbian, I'm pretty sure she wouldn't set her up with her cousin.

How retarded is everyone? No offense. Basically, she (Grandmother) means that when they go to the family reunion and they all meet up, she would take him there with her to meet her. The FML is that she is lesbian. So am I. ;)

I do find it weird that grandma is setting her up at their family reunion. In my family, we do not bring any boyfriend/girlfriend unless we are very serious about them.
