Strange system

Today, I was expecting a big sum of money for skipping last year's vacation while working as a freelancer, as I've done the last four years. Turns out I won't get the money, as last month I accepted a full time employment, and now that money has been turned into vacation days instead. Guess I won't buy a new home yet… FML

if you have to rely on money back from not taking vacation for a down payment on a house you are too poor to buy in the first place and are not ready. you should be saving monthly in a high yield savings account for a down especially since you will also need closing, costs, inspection costs, moving expenses on top of the down payment. you also were part time so your income probably wasn't high enough to qualify anyways.
