That's crap OP. Parents can be the pits in any relationship if they act like total beasts! I had a boyfriend whose mother was a dragon! I hated her more than I hated my own parents (long story)

Nobody wants a future "monster-in-law", let a lone a scary gf's mom always giving them the dreaded "stank eye" or possibly trying to get down their pants.

Having someone you care about not like your mother can put a lot of strain on you and even on the relationship. This might be better in the long run.
