After she sent a cute smiley face, she went on to send a string of random emojis, including the eggplant and the peach, to her church group chat. When she found out the meaning those emojis usually have, she tried to ground me, even though I'm 28. FML

Today, I was on a video call with my grandmother, trying to teach her how to use Facebook. I patiently explained the difference between posting a status and sending a private message. Five minutes later, I saw her new status: “I love you, honey. Thanks for being so patient with me. By the way, I still don’t understand this shit.” FML

My phone blew up with dumb sympathy, a single eggplant emoji from my cousin, and a lecture from his mom. FML

You put great power into your grandmother's hands without giving her the proper training to use it safely! I feel like the last step of teaching emoji use to religious old people should be "these are the ones you don't send to your church lades."
