I think it might be best that you seek another opinion. Preferably from a podiatrist. Or, at least someone who can give you a more definet answer than "It might, might not." Your injury sounds pretty serious and should not be left up to guess work.
A second opinion is an excellent idea. Unfortunately, though, with many injuries there is no way to know whether the patient will regain full function. A doctor who honestly tells you that is always preferable to one who confidently states one way or the other when it could go either way.
