Obviously I don’t know the full story from this short FML, but catching an STI doesn’t necessarily mean your partner is cheating. People can be asymptomatic for a long time. They could have had this before they started seeing you.

That's exactly what happened to me. Me and my now husband got diagnosed with a STD 6 months after we started dating because he didn't know he had one.
