Today, I was verbally abused by a customer at my job. Apparently, wearing "ugly, thick-framed hipster glasses as a fashion statement is a HUGE faux pas." These are my actual prescription glasses, and "faux pas" is not pronounced "fox paws". FML

Today, while I was waiting for a bus, a nutjob-looking dude walked up to me, then hissed, "You hipster scum, you don't even need those glasses," before forcibly removing them and snapping them in half. I was wearing regular clothes, and those prescription glasses cost me $500. FML

Today, my wife and I went shopping for new glasses at a local store, but we didn't really get to actually buying one. On our way back, she warned me that my glasses of choice should in no way be 'those big arty ones'. When I asked her why not, she told me that I 'look gay enough already'. FML

Today, I thought the cashier said the new blouse I picked out was ugly as she was ringing me up. I'm really self-conscious about my fashion sense, so I snapped and started yelling at her. It wasn't until she was close to tears did I find out she said "lovely" not "ugly". So, that's another store I can't go back to. FML

Today, at work, somebody stole my sunglasses. Fed up with the constant theft in my office, I stormed up to my boss, as he had long ago promised to catch the thief. He listened patiently to my rant before pointing out that my sunglasses were on my head. FML

Today, while out shopping, a middle aged man snatched my sunglasses off my face, threw them off the ground, and stomped on them, saying, "That’s what you get for trying to look cool, asshole!" I suffer from light-induced migraines. FML

Faux-pas: Fough as in dough (as in donut), paw as in Dad (as in what up pa?) I've got an aunt that says weefee for Wi-Fi, glucides (glue-sids) for carbohydrates (glucide is French for carbohydrate), breaf-iss (deaf-is) for breakfast, and refuses to change no matter who corrects her. She is in her 50s, and speaks English. So, though I am surprised you don't know how to say faux-pas, I'm glad you at least asked how to pronounce it. Naïve: Nye as in bye, eve as in, well, eve. Nye-eve.

For people who don't understand french, pronounced fo pah, spells faux pas, means wrong move. And for idiots who think you have to be a hipster to understand french, some english speaking people live in france, and can manage speaking and understanding it very well without being hipsters

Yeah, I just chose to wear glasses all my life too OP. I totally wanted terrible eyesight. I had to have it you see, to make truly stunning fashion choices in the world of eye wear. (Sarcasssm)
