Today, my fiancé left for a 6-month deployment overseas. I waved him away, came back inside alone, and cried. I know this is what I signed up for, but the cat could've shown more sympathy than staring at me and walking away. FML

Today, I'm seven months into a twelve month deployment. I called my fiancée, and she dumped me. The worst part is that two days ago, I re-enlisted to go to a unit an hour away from her house. FML

Today, I got back from an 8-month deployment ready for relaxation and lots of sex with my husband. He said he’s come to realise he likes living alone, didn’t miss me much, and hasn’t been looking forward to me coming home. He gave me divorce papers and kicked me out to go sleep in a hotel. FML

Today, my girlfriend of six months dumped me over the phone. I'm in the military and recently had to move away to another fort. We'd agreed that we would try to make long distance work. I'd even offered to buy a plane ticket to come see her each weekend. I've been gone less than two weeks. FML

Today, after I was on deployment 6000 miles away, and because my wife was struggling pretty bad with work, kids, and taking care of everything on her own, she finally had a breakdown so I came home early to help. I found out she was fucking another Navy dude the whole time. I should've stayed out there. FML

From one Army wife to another.. I know.. I get it. for what it's worth, it does get a little easier each time. For whoever came up with that title.. shame on you. The word "dependa(potamus)" refers to people who married into military for the benefits only, not for the reality of loving someone that happened to be in the military. For those of us that married for love, this is one of the hardest things to deal with.

Time to join a book club or hiking group, preferably with other Armed Services significant others so you can cope together. I recommend cuddle parties (with TRUSTED friends) for the physical closeness void. Thank you to your fiancé and family for your sacrifices.
