Today, I signed up for a psych experiment. I was a damsel in distress on the side of the highway, but no one stopped. Back at the lab, another participant said a half-dozen people helped her. The professor was testing how attractiveness affects altruism. I was the unattractive subject. FML

Flattered and taken aback, I agreed. He then told me I would be part of the control group to see how they act around plain looking women. FML

Then she made her complete lack of interest in me obvious. But hey, at least the gay guy she hung out with thought I was cute. FML

I also learned that the notebooks she's been writing in for the past three years aren't for her "doctorate in literature" as she had told me, they were notes on my behavior for the past 3 years. FML

#5 - you need to take a psych class or two. There are plenty of experiments done on humans influencing their emotions all the time. OP - don't feel bad. Experiments like this are done all the time. It happens to a lot of guys.

#50, Are you serious? What is wrong with asking someone out immediately? If they say yes you can be reasonably sure they feel they might be interested in you. In this case, obviously.

well... my psych class teaches that to do experiments like these, patients like yourself have to be unaware of the real motive, otherwise you behave in a dishonest way and mess up what theyre looking for... so it wasnt really a bitchy thing for her to do, she kind of had to do it... still sucks that it had to happen
