Why would it, birth control has a plentitude of effects it can be used for. If only to regulate periods for example. Also in case you do have a partner you want to be intimate with, it's good to be already on an established birth control instead of having to go through the entire procedure of seeing the doc, getting the prescription, getting it filled, waiting for the right moment in your cycle to start taking it, waiting another week until it works safely.... Anyway, don't listen to a 17yo dude's opinion on birth control lmao it's wildly ignorant at best.

Birth control isn't just for preventing pregnancy. It is also useful for regulating irregular menstrual cycles and mitigating cramps, both very common in adolescent girls.
