Today, I had an ingrown toenail cut out, and the pain medication I received doesn't actually help with the pain. Instead, it makes me high, which results in me losing my balance and slamming my injured toe into objects, and then getting sick from that new pain. FML

Today, I went to the hospital to get my ingrown toenail removed. The doctors put me on a little surgery table and told me to relax. They then injected anesthetic into my toe four times and used a pair of scissors to slowly cut through my nail. Only, the anesthetic hadn't started to work just yet. FML

Today, I noticed one of my toenails was getting super long, so I cut it. In doing so, I accidentally ripped it off and it started bleeding. As I went to get something to stop it from bleeding, I got a huge splinter in my little toe, causing a painful infection. I think I should just go back to bed. FML

Today, I was prescribed medication to treat the headaches, caused by the medication to treat the lethargy, caused by the medication to treat my crippling nerve pain, without which I'd be stuck in a wheelchair. FML

Today, I went to the hospital for crippling back pain that made it impossible to walk. The doctor was more interested in telling me off for not taking a pill that he admitted doesn't help acute pain. He then gave me an injection that wore off in an hour, and sent me home, telling me to take over the counter meds. FML

Today, I was on autopilot, walking out of the bathroom, and separated my pinky toe from the rest of my toes over the door frame. I dropped to the ground in pain, and my toe and half my foot still hurts hours later. FML

Today, after I had my wisdom teeth cut out yesterday, so of course I’m in pain. To top it off, I threw my back out today and can’t bend over. So in the end, I’m loopy from pain meds and my back hurts twice as bad as my mouth. Go figure. FML

Today, I painfully watched my doctor burn a hole in my nail to drain the blood underneath. This is the prescribed treatment for the injury of hammering your thumb. FML

I have had this surgery on five ingrown toenails, and I never needed any pain meds, so I would say they are trying to get an extra buck or two out of you.

Not necessarily. OP said it' does "not actually help with the pain", basically stating that he did indeed have pain after the removal.

I've had an ingrown toenail operation. They didn't give me actual narcotics, they just told me to take paracetamol if it hurts.

You need pain medication to get over an ingrown toenail procedure? They don't hurt that bad. Grow a pair of the appropriate strength-causing genitalia and get over it.

hey OP, I had my ingrown toenail removed less than two months ago. it was done perfectly. pain? NONE!! I didn't even get any meds and i felt no pain what so ever. maybe if it happens again you should try a different treatment that doesn't involve stitches (unless you already had that) i got mine done without them and it was a relief compared to the first two i had
