Today, I'm meeting my boyfriend's very conservative parents for the first time, so I decided to dress appropriately and curl my hair to match. In doing so, I accidentally touched my neck with the iron, and I now have a burn there that look a lot like a hickey. FML

Ask his mother if she has any ointment for the burn you got on your neck. Tell her how you did it. You'll break the ice and both have a good laugh.

Just wince at some point and say, "Oh, I did the clumsiest thing while I was curling my hair, earlier..." then tell them the story. If nothing else, you'll get the sympathy vote.

I did something similar to this actually. It hurt so bad, then I had my entire family freaking out because my family thought i was cheating on my boyfriend cuz he was away during this ha ha

If his parents are truely conservative then it's possible they wouldn't know what a hickey is O_o. Or at least won't be their first thought (unless you give them time to speculate and are normally promiscuous) So if you're honest with them, they might actually believe you.
