Why didn't you go to her country when she got booted out of here? You didn't try an LDR? It doesn't take a Ph.D. to know you really weren't committed to the relationship, but it helps.
Often when there is a breakup the person may act like they want to remain “friends” but usually they are just trying to soften the blow that they no longer want to be with you. I would say that’s what happened. When a relationship is over, it’s over. Allow an appropriate time to mourn and then pick up your life and move on.
