You're a grown adult. You should have enough respect and decency to just tell him you're gonna head home and you don't think you two are compatible. The only reason for sneaking off on a date-gone-sour is if you sense he's aggressive and going to lash out physically. But you were probably wanting him to still foot the bill or are too cowardly to just be direct. YDI.
