Today, I realized that the past 10 years of my life was wasted on being a decent and helpful person only to have people lie about me, physically and verbally attack me, try to ruin my personal and professional life, and even cause me to go into debt and deep depression. All of this because I fell in love with a guy 10 years ago. FML

OP, I believe you got taken advantage of and slandered. But there is one, and only one, person in this world that you have any chance of changing and that's the one who looks back at you in the mirror - You... You are going to have to change yourself into someone who values themself and doesn't let others take unfair advantage of you. That is a tall order and requires you to figure out just how you let yourself be taken advantage of and refuse to make those same mistakes again... Love is wonderful, but there are multiple people out there that could be a good match. Don't get trapped into thinking there is only "the one" because that can be a trap when they turn out to be a problem... I have gone through my share of difficulties and good things in my life. I promised myself a long time ago that if I made mistakes I was going to make new mistakes and not repeat the old mistakes.
