Hey it Op, for one I am a male. The break-up wasn't fun, but it wasn't horrible. We lived together before hand because we go to college together and I offered to let her new girlfriend stay here, because she had nowhere else to go. I'm not sure what the word is but my ex loves people for who they are, gender doesn't really to her

So, better than being homeless, I guess. If you're a man in that situation it's a lot less exciting than it sounds, in fact, it can hurt real bad. And the hurpy durpy comments from your friends won't make it any easier

If op is a guy, I think that it being a girl is probably easier than if it was another guy. Still sucks either way, but at least op doesn't have to compare himself to the new guy.
