Today, on my job as a police officer, I received a typical domestic disturbance call. Not so typical was the address. Guess my wife's affair went terribly wrong while I was on shift. FML

Burst in, kill them all, and claim it was self defense.

*bang* *bang* *bang* oh! That was his cell phone. I thought it was a gun.

Shawshank Redemption his ass. Then plan a glorious escape!

Isn't that a foreign disturbance, then?

I know you're probably joking, but just in case you're not - no. Domestic refers to domicile, ie. the house where the disturbance is taking place.

It's Perdix. Of course he's joking. He regards FML as improv comedy *points to his profile*

I'm curious as to what the proper procedure is for a cop when one of the people involved is a spouse. Do they have to call someone else in to deal with the spouse because there's a possible conflict of interest? Or are they still allowed to deal with it with the expectation that they'll remain professional about the situation?

Reminds me of the movie fracture, with Anthony Hopkins. He kills his wife for cheating, when the lover shows up (who's a cop), he arrests Anthony. Later in court, he brings up the point that he felt his life was in danger by his wife's lover when he was being arrested. Good movie!

I thought of the same movie, but the situation is not so similar here actually, since here the cop is a spouse, not a lover. Awesome movie anyway.

The most appropriate thing would to have another officer take the call. There's a definite conflict of interest. No way you could remain unbiased when the person you love is not only having an affair but is now in an altercation with their lover.

81 is right; my parents are cops, so I (sort of?) know from experience. If there's a conflict of interest, they really should have another officer take the call. HOWEVER, and I might just be reading into this too much, it's always possible OP didn't take the call, just got it over the radio and was like 'shit son! That's my address!' (or, again, could just be reading too much into it) Same reason they won't let a detective (officially) work a case they have invested interest in. It can skew their perception of reality and land an innocent person in jail in the right circumstance.

I'm actually speechless. In this case, wordless.

#19, and we are all eternally grateful that you occupied page space to tell us this. Needless scrolling counts as exercise, I guess.

23- oh yes it does! My fingers are so jacked, I'm unstoppable on video games now, and this extra strength has vastly improved my relationship with my girlfriend. /sarcasm/ GTFO 19. Vote and move on.

Wow op I'm sorry, hope she's your ex-wife now. Keep your head high I bet you'll find someone who won't **** you over like that

Sorry to hear that sir. Give her a no contact order and talk to an attorney. If she gets an order or protection against you, you'll be riding desk duty. Hope everything works out, and be safe out there.

Aw, OP. I'm sorry you found out that way, and especially sorry your wife is a cheating bitch.

Cheaters are the scum of the earth. I'd say she deserves whatever happened.

I don't understand why a man can't be more respectful of another man's relationship, ESPECIALLY marriage! The first thing I ask a girl is "do you have a boyfriend?" before I even talk to her in any other way than a friend. But definitely plant some cocaine on them, blame it on drug abuse, then take BOTH their asses to jail! Edit: "not so typical of the address" does this mean it was at YOUR house too? So screwed up.

A lot of people use the excuse of, "the relationship/marriage is her responsibility, not mine". In a way, I agree, but having been cheated on, it's kind of hard not to completely hate the other chick. And want to erase her female parts so she can't do it to anyone else.

So did you cuff them and take 'em away, or cuff them and join in?

Oh yes, OP sounds like he liked the fact of a third party and instantly became aroused with thoughts of having a 3 some with his wife and some other man. Yep, you nailed that one! -__- FYL, OP. I feel bad for you. There's nothing worse than a cheater, and it's extremely shitty that you two are married. I'd suggest counseling, but there's no use in that since your wife has already proven how loyal and faithful she is.....

By your sarcasm, you took the joke seriously. Whether it was funny to you or not is a different thing, before you say that . And I'd rather say this joke and get thumbed down for trying, than posting the same post which will be posted over and over again which is "FYL/ What great restraint you have/ What a cheater."

fyl op this has to be one of the worst ways to find out about an affair kick her to the curb or just lock them both up
