Today, I overheard my dad's friend complaining to my dad that his new baby boy is a ginger. I continued listening, and heard my dad saying, "Yeah, there's nothing worse than having a ginger." I'm his daughter. I'm a ginger. FML

Today, our class was focusing on discrimination, and our teacher asked us if anyone had ever felt discriminated against. I put my hand up to share a story, and my teacher immediately said, "It's because you're ginger, isn't it?" That's not what I was going to say. FML

Today, a guy in my class was talking about himself. He started his story with, "When I was little, I was a ginger." I replied without thinking, "Is that why you got put up for adoption?" Him being adopted was the actual story he wanted to tell. FML

Today, I got married. My dad wanted to see me before the ceremony in my dress. The dress I wore was not my usual kind of dress, strapless. The first thing my dad said, "Ginger! You've got boobs!" Not exactly the father-daughter moment I'd envisioned. FML

Today, one of my dad's work friends came over. As he was leaving, he complimented my dad on having three "strapping young boys." I informed him that I'm a girl, and I have a hormone imbalance that causes me to have a lot of hair and a deep voice. I guess my dress didn't give him a clue. FML

I'm pretty sure this girl is from the UK, because as far as I know, that is the only place where people seriously have a bias against gingers. I once dated a guy from Scotland and he told me how he and his friends would corner this ginger kid and chant "giiiiingerrrrrrr" at him. Though I'm not 100% on this, I'm pretty sure it has to do with Britain vs Ireland, and Irish people seen as subhuman by British for such a long time... Regardless, the dad and his friends are an assholes for having that bias.

lol; that's pretty harsh for your own father to say. i wouldn't want to have a ginger kid either though; gingers aren't very nice looking. it's the freckles; yuck. are you sure you're a ginger though? you can have red hair without being a ginger. anyway; if it bothers you that much; just dye your hair and cover your freckles with makeup

#135 i believe its more of in this corner people that cant make a joke without harrassing someone else because their own self esteem is so low in this corner people who only make jokes mimicking what they see/hear on tv in this corner people who are trying to be nice to the op, like gingers, or just dont find demeaning other people funny.

He might have been saying it sarcastically, since his friend would likely have know you're a ginger. Unless you're moody and nuts. But it's more likely to me that he didn't mean it literally.
