These people are the worst

Today, my brother wore a T-shirt to my birthday party that said "I dig skinny chicks". I'm a recovering anorexic and told him that I didn't really like his shirt. His response? "Don't let the liberal media brainwash you into thinking it's OK to be fat." FML

I hope you punched him in the face. He's your brother, so it's alright for siblings to fight. Actually, while you're at it, give him a beating.

If you saw a shirt basically promoting an illness that took maybe months of hard work and pain, you'd be distressed too.

I agree with #52. Anorexia is a bitch to get over physically, harder still to fight mentally. there's a big difference between skinny and slim, so if the shirt had said "I dig slim/athletic/fit girls" OP might not have reacted how they did.

I'm really sorry for what you're having to deal with and I wish you all the best with your recovery. I really hope you have some people around you who are more supportive than your brother to help you through.

Skinny doesn't mean anorexic. Maybe you SHOULD be less sensitive

Or maybe her brother could be careful with his words considering she's recovering from an illness that has a high incidence of anxiety, depression, and ocd

Believe it or not, the world isn't able to carry to every single emotional owwie of every single person

But family should help each other. I feel bad for your family because you sound like a dick.

Well being fat isn't ok and liking skinny girls is healthy and ok. But wearing it around a recovering anorexic is a dick move. As that may be triggering for the recovering person.

Are you serious? The shirt said fat not obese, obese is referring to the fact your size has medical implications, fat is a cruel reference to a body type. You can be overweight and healthy the same way you can be thin and binge eat. It's fine to have preferences in partners but it is NOT okay to demean anyone else because you don't find it attractive, a persons worth and attractiveness is not based on one assholes opinion. The situation is worse knowing the condition of OP, it's their brother wearing it so clearly they won't have that kind of relationship so why does he feel the need to make it clear that's his type? It suggests he's shaming her for almost giving up trying to be thin as she's recovering from bad eating habits/diets. This is him shaming her for overcoming anorexia, do not defend him especially to OP ffs..

thats so rude, hope he will understand what he did soon. good luck with your recovery!

You should've replied with, "Don't let society make you think it's OK to be a douchebag."

I personally don't get why would someone wear a shirt like that. I mean, it's like he could wear "I like POC girls" or "I like tomboy girls, skinny girls, etc " who the hell cares about what he likes or not in a girl? The only valid reason I can find to wear this, is to purposely piss someone off

'don't let everyone else brainwash you into thinking it's OK to be mean'
