Today, I finally did my laundry after a good few weeks, only to think another washer was a dryer. I just ran my clothes through the wash 3 times, because I was confused as to why they weren't drying. FML

Did you not notice that there was no lint trap to clean between the cycles? Did you end up adding fabric softener to the wash? Some advice for the future: the chute in the trash room is not a fun slide; that is where the garbage is thrown ...

To be fair, out of all the differences between a washer and dryer, the LAST thing I would notice would be the absence/presence of a lint trap. There's so many other huge differences that would clue me in way before that.

Um... washers have a place where you put the detergent, driers do not. So even if the buttons or dials were confusing, I find it hard to believe that someone could not tell the difference.
