How the other half lives

By They're children, they want to play - 18/02/2026 12:00

Today, I got a noise complaint about "loud stomping" in my apartment disturbing the tenant below. I guess I'm supposed to tell my sweet children that they are no longer allowed to play in their own home. FML

Often, when the tenant below complain about the noise of your sweet children, it's because said children either jump, throw their basketball at the floor, scream for hours on end, drop their bowling ball, practice tap-dancing, stomp around, or all of the above, especially between 9 pm and 8 am.

Children are not exempt from apartment building noise rules. Parents are getting more entitled by the day, I swear.

I used to live in a second floor apartment with 3 kids. My downstairs neighbors never complained about my 3 boys “loud stomping”. I did have to complain about the third floor above me kids “loud stomping” once, and those parents came down to apologize. It’s not just “disturbing” people below when kids “loud stomping”, the walls also shake and things can fall off a shelf or pictures fall off the wall (like what necessitated my complaint).
