Today, my husband was using the microwave when we suddenly hear a huge 'POP'. The good news is we found our daughter's missing hamster. FML

I would be more concerned with how it got into the microwave. It might be time to have a talk with your daughter....... or husband.

My older brother brought a baby bird with a broken leg home once. The goal: help it recover. What really happened: 1). Birdy was given a little bath because it was filthy. 2). Birdy was wiped down with a towel afterwards. 3). Birdy was still shivering from the cold. 4). Brother panics because he thought birdy might die from the cold instead, so 5). Birdy was put into the microwave for ten seconds to dry up more quickly. 6). Birdy swells up in first two seconds. 7). Birdy POPS in third. 8). Throws out microwave. 9). Had to go to therapy for next three years.
