That really sucks, OP! I feel bad! If I was your sister I would have given you the money.
I'm glad my grandparents never showed favoritism when I was going up. All of my cousins would have hated me because I shared my birthday with my Granddad and was closer to him than the other grandkids. I'm sorry they aren't able to stay neutral. And it must be a common thing to play favorites. There was a story earlier today about a person whose parents got the tots from Sonic for the birthday meal/present because their sibling, who is the favorite, wasn't around. People need to realize how that can mess up families. Sorry OP. And happy birthday :)
Rough luck...
I feel you but in my case it was Christmas and the "favorite" got a wallet with $200 and the rest of us each got $20 Talk about a merry Christmas! But seriously, sorry OP
My grandparents disliked my brother and I. Now that in older I think it's because they actually disliked my dad. Anyway, they would get our younger cousin something cool like a video game for Christmas. Our presents obviously came from the dollar store. They would make him an Easter basket. Ours was the pre-made kind with a cheap toy and handful of candy. Never forgot his birthday. We lived right next door and they never remembered ours, when they did it was because they were invited to a party and brought a cheap dollar store gift if anything at all. (Side note: I have seen my cousin open a brand new PlayStation from them for his birthday - the best I ever got was a sample size of magnetic blocks.) People suck. You have to learn not to take it personally though. One day they'll wonder why you don't talk to them as often, if at all, and it will be because of stuff like this constantly building up and they don't think they're doing anything wrong.
