Today, I printed out a worksheet that detailed instructions for my students to write a letter from the perspective of a Chinese immigrant in 1870 as part of their history homework. Half my class decided to Google Translate their assignment into traditional Chinese. FML

Payback for common core! Make these kids do math that goes against decades of teaching? They make you learn Mandarin!

You can fail them on the account that the Chinese is wrong. The characters are traditional, sure, but characters in the 1870s had evolved from it.
