Today, I gave my dad whiplash. He was teaching me how to drive stick, and I let the clutch out too fast. FML

It took me all of about 10 minutes to learn how to drive stick. You've really got to feel for it but never let the clutch out fast. Use the clutch as a safety, if you start stalling clutch in and rev it when you let it out. Transitions are supposed to be smooth so take it easy.

Keep practicing, it's hard to learn if you first learned automatic. Your dad was probably being dramatic, popping the clutch doesn't jerk that much. Don't worry, you're doing fine. Remember that the car will not explode and just stay calm and be patient. Also don't practice with dramatic people in the car.

All I've ever driven is stick, even in drivers ed. It's not that hard.
