They're all out to get me

Today, we drove for four days across states. My dad refused to let us go into the amusement park or check into the hotel we'd traveled for. The park is now cashless and he swears that it’s a government conspiracy to monitor and control us. He made us sleep in the car before going home. FML

Yikes. Paranoid schizophrenia is real and not uncommon. As if "The Government" cares that you stay at a hotel of go to an amusement park. Dad probably won't seek help because the psychiatrist is "In on the conspiracy." I'm sorry this is happening to your family.

Has he not traveled since the 80s? Did he just expect to show up without a reservation and pay cash at the hotel? It’s been a requirement at almost all hotels to have some card on file during the reservation process for many years now.
