“Friend zone consequences” … - I assume that OP asked “friend” if they were interested in a romantic relationship, was turned down, and OP moved on to seeing someone else. And now “friend” is upset that OP didn’t “try harder” and took her word as true.

The way you word is makes it sound like she is upset because you are looking for a different friend instead of a love interest.
