Content almost refused by staff

Today, I’ve had the absolute worst year possible at work but stuck it out to look good on the CV. Turns out my boss has been giving me the worst possible reference so not only has this job been crap but the possibility of finding something else is now looking pretty unlikely. FML

Is he actually like bad mouthing you? Because if so I think that’s actually illegal. I was always told that your former employers couldn’t bad talk you only say “yes they worked here” or something along those lines
