Get on Facebook, and 'friend' as many people as possible... about 3 should do it. They may not be real friends, but you can now safely say you have more 'friends' than dogs.

Some people are shy and have trouble making friends. I get out and do stuff and make an effort to be nice to people (despite the fact that I'm shy) and still have trouble with making friends. Not everyone is naturally gregarious.
