Ibuprofen (advil, motrin, etc) helps with cramps. Just an fyi. It may not work for everybody.
wow, you are so lucky. i puke, pass out and yawn unntrollably whenever i shit....last week, i was pooping, vomiting and yawning and I passed out, mouth open and face first in the toilet after a hairy, anaconda-like cretaceous-period dinosaur shit...i have a whole life of passing out from feces to look forward to...and im only 12. is that a normal age for your first shit?
So you're telling me there are no blood vessels in the lining of your uterus? That's strange because I thought all tissue needed nutrients from blood vessels to survive. Huh. Also, if you actually "study health," you'd know that the amount of material shed during a menstrual period depends on the individual. While the average may be 1/4 cup as you say, this varies from woman to woman and from month to month. Sorry sweetie, but I'm afraid you need to take more than one junior high health class in order to qualify as having "studied health."
Most of these comments are either a) "you've never seen blood before?!" or b) "period blood doesn't look the same." Perhaps the second answers the first? The post was vague, but if she just got her period, maybe the sight of that-- period blood/gunk specifically, not just normal blood-- is actually what freaks her out. I'm guessing she *saw* the difference without being able to *name* it, and her body responded automatically. Also, having a period feels exactly like what it is: pieces of your insides ripping apart and flushing themselves out. Yuck.
Generally most people who get queasy/nauseous at the sight of blood are fine with seeing their own blood. And often it's the pain associated with the blood (if it's your own blood) which contributes to the nausea - so having a period is very different. You'll be fine. And to everyone laying into her for not having her periods yet: LAY OFF! Holy GEEZ. It's not like she can help it! I didn't start til I was 14, I know a girl who didn't start til she was almost 18. Once upon a time 16 was the average age to start your periods.
Erm, there is still blood along with the uterus lining. I feel sorry for people who end up being your patients.
And to everyone all like "omg how have you not seen blood before??" ... chances are she has and her reaction to it has changed. When i was a kid I NEVER got queasy at the sight of blood but when I hit highschool I had a few incidents where I did get queasy, then I grew out of it again.
How in the world is there no blood in what you menstruate? And what exactly do you call it then? When I first got my period it didn't go away for 7 or 8 months, heavy the whole time. I was very shy/stupid and didn't tell anyone what was going on because I was embarrassed. (I have no idea how my mom didn't pick up on it since she was buying me a new box of tampons every week?) Finally, I said something and was taken to the doctor immediately... Turns out I was anemic due to all the blood I was losing. http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/dci/Diseases/anemia/anemia_causes.html It even says there a cause of anemia is blood loss, and heavy menstrual cycles are an example they give.
ouch id hate to have it for 6 months....thats not normal...
depo is a birth control shot that you get in the butt so you don't see the blood from it and most women completely stop having periods by the third shot
