Today, I drove 4 hours to see my girlfriend of a year, as she had asked me to stay with her for a few days. When I arrived she told me she wanted to be friends as she liked someone else, but wanted me to stay the few days so we could work on being friends. FML

She's a good enough person to break up with you when she's just liking someone. I know people who go as far as cheating or atleast being 100 percent sure they can get with the other person before they break up. But she is completely selfish making him drive 4 hours to break up with him.. And then if he says no and leaves he would somehow look like the asshole because he didn't "work on being friends". Just leave and be single for awhile..that always helps you in the long run.

What a total bitch. I feel for you Op. But at least she didn't try and kill you, break into your house, or give you a dead puppy. As harsh as that is and as much as it must hurt, at least eight hours is all you wasted on a selfish but more likely sane girlfriend. Hopefully the distance between you will prevent her from drunk driving and doing drugs on your bed. If not, then she might just die in a horrible car accident. =)
