and I though my parents were harsh..
Um if your eighteen your parents can't enforce a curfew on you...especially one as early as nine... You should let em know...
They can enforce whatever rules they want to as long as the OP is living with them. If they don't like the rules, they can find somewhere else to live. Being 18 also means that your parents aren't legally obligated to shelter, clothe, and feed you.
Especially if you are still in education I expect that your parents are wanting you back to make sure you are alert for school, college or whatever. Parents usually have a reason for making rules beyond simply being a PitA for you. You live with them and they have your interest at heart. I don't think it's unreasonable that you make your curfew and if it's 10 mins today without repercussion then it will be just another 10 tomorrow and 10 more the next day. That said, unless you have been completely and repeatedly ignoring their wishes, I think the punishment is a bit out of proportion. Lose your car for a week, or be grounded for a week - fine. Lose any one out of your phone/PC/TV privileges - again, fine. Maybe even just knocking an hour off your curfew for a week would be enough - having to be home for 8pm as an 18 yo would be something I reckon you would not want to repeat. My guess is that they have escalated this because you have been repeatedly late or ignoring what they wish. Probably you think your curfew is too early. I would suggest that you serve out your punishment and then speak to them about making it later sometimes. How about an extra hour on non-school nights? Or maybe a few "specials" cards a month that you can play to get an extra hour providing you don't have any tests etc the following day? A couple of hours a month will likely make more difference to your general happiness than your studies. Make a reasonable proposal and they are more likely to think that you are taking a mature and sensible attitude to it rather than just breaking it, which will create conflict.
Wow that sucks
awwwe. did they pay for the cell, computer, car, and television? does suck about the 9 curfew though ....
Keywords
so you spent your ten computer minutes to write an fml? that's kind of fml worthy in itself.....
that sucks. i would leave.
