Today, I am currently grounded for three weeks, have no car, cell phone, or television privileges, and am not allowed to spend more than 10 minutes on the computer a day. The reason why: I was seven minutes past my 9'oclock curfew. I'm 18. FML

Today, I was grounded for not agreeing with an article on dating my mom found in a very strict magazine. The article told parents to monitor phone calls, make rumors about their children cheating on people, and not allow their children anywhere but home. FML

Today, I turned 18 and I’m now subject to adult discipline. My dad says I will no longer be grounded or have my phone taken away, but I have three strikes and if I get to three, he’s throwing me out to get my own house. He then gave me my first strike because I was 30 minutes late picking up my nana. FML

Today, I told my mom about the couple of times that I'd skipped classes during high school. She got really mad and grounded me for a month. That would usually be normal except for the fact that I'm 27 and live in my own apartment. FML

Today, I got suspended from school for smoking in the stairs. I'm grounded for a month without my phone, TV or any type of social connection. All of this would seem like a fair enough punishment if I actually smoked, but instead I just smell like my parent's second-hand smoke. FML

I'm 30, and even 15 years ago I had a curfew of 11PM, which was sort of average compared to most people I knew. On Saturdays I was allowed out until 3AM, though, because I was one of those idiots that went to Rocky Horror every week. What a waste of time. In all seriousness, it sounds like your parents are either extremely overprotective or they're trying to drop you a hint that they want you out. Either way, you should have a talk with them. Given you're all...legally...adults...and can solve things in an adult fashion and not treat one another like babies. 9PM? Seriously? That's barely even primetime TV or dinner time for most people these days. Don't leave the house too soon, though, and definitely don't leave angry. It could be one of the worst decisions you ever make. What if you lose your job and can't pay your rent? Think about it a while before you do anything rash.
