Today, after driving a few hours late at night I decided to entertain the car tailgating me by not letting him pass. After doing this for 3miles, reaching 93MPH, I decided to let the car pass me. When I switched lanes, the car tailgating me light up in red and blue. It was a cop. FML

I slow down for tailgaters. Wouldn't change if it were a cop. It's one of those moments where you just pray a deer would jump in front of you so that you could slam on your breaks and the moron would crash right into you for following too close.

double post: @ Dooms_Day (#128) The heck they are! County and city police only need a high school diploma to be hired. They are as skilled as your average substitute teacher. You have to be a highway or state patrol to get specialized training. That's why it's illegal for things (not, they aren't people here) like sheriffs to pull you over for less than 10 over the limit. Because they have NO training. Duh. And as for the rest of us 'street racing:' Are you SERIOUSLY gonna tell me that Jeff Gordon isn't a better driver than a pig? Really? Some of us have had defensive driving, stunt driving, actually race cars, and other things. The cops aren't better trained. And next: Let's do some physics, shall we? Let's say this was a dry road, so the coefficient of static friction is about 1. To drop 3 miles per hour, from 93 to 90 would take him .3 feet, which at 90 miles per hour is .003 seconds. Now the cop is traveling 3 miles per hour faster. Let's say there's a distance of 5 feet between them, shall we? The cop is going 4.4 feet per second faster than the OP. At 93 miles per hour, your car won't cruise without cruise control or your foot on the gas. Since speeds are changing, the cops foot is on the gas. It takes the cop over 3/10 of a second to realize what's happened, an additional .3 to get his foot over, and then slamming his brakes, he MIGHT be able to drop that same 3 miles per hour in .3 feet. He's really close to hitting the OP, and the OP only slowed down 3 miles per hour. If the OP slammed his brakes, he could stop within the length of a football field, and the cop would have creamed him. The cop rear ended him, meaning he was following too closely, and therefore he is fined, not the OP. Sorry to tell you.

This happened to me last Halloween. A cop followed me and my buds in a car for a good seven miles from their house to mine, from their neighborhood all the way to mine. Since there were a couple guys in the trunk of my Jeep, if I had stopped even a couple feet short, the pig could have seriously hurt or even killed one of my friends, just so he would have a better chance of handing out a ticket. The police have no respect for other people, all they care about is making others' lives miserable for their own sadistic pleasure. I don't get why you would set a quota for the number of times your piglets have to fine the people who fund your paycheck. The entire system is disgusting.

You did not deserve this. **** that cop, and all tailgaters, badge or no badge.

All honesty, that's incredibly stupid. Why the hell would you throw extra people into any vehicle? If that cop would have rear ended you, resulting in your friends getting hurt or killed, I'd still put 50% of the blame on you. It would be his fault sure, but you willingly decided to let people ride in the trunk, no matter how you think about it you can't place all the blame on him if it happened.

U so ******* deserved that u prick

Both of you were wrong. The cop for entrapment (by law definition) and you for failing at driving. Second, how about reporting him by calling 911? They can handle that and if it's in the system and the cop announces himself as the guilty party, well it can result in a suspension. At least here anyways. Legally they cannot do this, but do because they have a quota to fill. The idea is to call them out on it and obey the law so they can't pull you over. If they do, you can get out of the ticket.

well you shouldnt have been going that fast in the first place but that cop was being a total asshat.
