Today, at work, I was talking to a customer. She kept shaking her head "no" at everything I said. I asked what she was disagreeing with. She told me she has Parkinson's Disease, teared up, and asked to speak to my manager. FML

Ouch, sucks fo' you. My great-grandma had that terrible, but it never caused her to shake her head that way. Oh well, you didn't know! I understand her being a bit hurt for the misunderstanding, but no need in talking to the manager about that.

This is not OP's fault, part of customer service is to find out what problems a customer has so you can find the best solution. FYL OP.

Marry a complete stranger? Well gee, I'll stick it in my diary somewhere next to 'stand in the vegetable aisle at the supermarket with a tube of KY jelly'.

Mmmh, sounds like something that could happen!!

FYL. You didn't know. Unless you were extremely rude about asking her why she was disagreeing, she overreacted, especially by asking for the manager.

@#20 he was being sarcastic.. bc she didn't know what parkinson's was..

17 I HATE your picture. especially seeing that why watching a horror movie!

It's true that the shaking from Parkinson's (and other illnesses/disorders) is VERY different from purposeful shaking. However, if the OP doesn't know what to look for--and schools don't tend to teach this--then it's completely understandable that they ask POLITELY what the problem is. If it wasn't polite, YDI. If it was polite, then FYL.

shit happens, apologize and move on but be considerate to peoples disabilities

Parkinson's is a degenerative nervous system disorder caused by genetics. the neurons die off and the muscles do whatever they want.
