Hey at least you'll get to spend some time with her! Maybe she was joking, maybe she was just subtly telling you not to expect too much too soon. Remember this: she won't remember you by what you say exactly, but how you make her feel. If you can have fun on your not-a-date, you'll probably be able to work your way up to an actual date before too long! This is totally not a FYL, you actually are on your way up! If only we could all be so lucky!
