Today, I met my boyfriend's parents for the first time. I'm already a clumsy person but became extra clumsy because I was nervous. After knocking over my drink for the fourth time, my boyfriend's mom angrily shouted "Did you actually come drunk for the first time meeting us?" FML

4 times... wow... twice... okay, but 4? Anyway, it sucks that that is the first impression they have of you, but let's hope your boyfriend clears your name, and the next time you meet them concentrate on being extremely careful, as to not further damage your reputation.

how does nervousness translate to drunk? Ive been both plenty of times, and they're very different attitudes. its easy enough just to mention that you're kind of nervous. I would think that any parent who dated or had a social life of their own can understand. either that or they're just asses, in which case you shouldn't worry about impressing them so much anyway.

Wow, I hate your boyfriend's mom. She is obviously not playing with a full deck if she can't tell the difference between clumsy and drunk.

As #19 said, Kava is good for calming the nerves, but it'll wig you out in large doses. I recommend Kava Tea for stress relief. It's easy to find, reasonably priced, and while it may not taste brilliant, one cup will leave you feeling a great deal calmer and more relaxed, without the trippy effects of straight up Kava. I use it when I'm home on long vacations with my own parents. lol

Four times?! That seems a liiiitle bit ridiculous. But still, that was really rude of her.
