Today, after having bought my daughter a complete set of new school clothes, she threw a tantrum and refused to wear them. I told her she could either wear them, or go to school naked. She made if half-way down the street in the nude before I caught up and dragged her back inside. FML

Nobody in the UK gets a choice in their school clothes before the age of 16. :| Just FYI to everyone who doesn't understand this. It is not that the parent went out and bought shit without her daughter knowing - that is all they can wear. The closest thing to a choice will be skirt/trousers, probably.

Kids at certain ages don't embarrass. Never give them the option, however this gives you plenty of reason to tear her ass up every time the subject of clothes comes up for the next few years.

I almost never got new clothes. Strangers in town used to leave bags of clothes on the porch for my brother and I because they knew we were the poor family. Then I got to go to school in them and the kids whose family gave them to me would get the honor of telling everyone else that I had their hand-me-downs from last year.
