It wasn't me

Today, I found a wallet on the train. I called the owner, who said he would come around and pick it up. When he finally did, he looked inside and screamed that his money was missing, and that I was a dirty thief. I never took a cent. He's filing theft charges against me. FML

Uhg, I hate these kind of people, you try to help them out but then they have to go and be ass holes about it. FYL

I would tell him go ahead and file charges- he didn't SEE you take the money, which you didn't, and he can't prove it. End of story. This is why people don't do nice things anymore- cuz it bites them in the butt.

He just wanted to sue someone for some cash, that's all. He's victimizing you because he's an asshole.

that's true, and people even leave the wallet behind on purpose so they can do that.

And we wonder why there are no more good people anymore.

If you have to hire a lawyer, you may as well sue (or counter-sue if he is pressing civil charges too) for defamation of character, cause those charges will not stand up in court, but you suing him might... this was either a set up or just some complete dumbass who doesn't realize that you wouldn't have called him if you found his wallet and took the money

If I see a wallet, purse, or anything else on the sidewalk, I just keep walking. A recent case in England (http://www.dailyexpress.co.uk/posts/view/92661/Student-arrested-for-being-honest) makes it clear that helping others is no longer worthwhile.

This is not a scam. Why would anyone do a scam with a 100% failure rate? He may press charges against her in an attempt to get the money back, but this case will never even get before a judge. He will present his case, and it will be turned down. Courts don't accept cases like this with absolutely no evidence.

YDI Trust is a weakness, believe me

Why would a thief return a wallet? He's an idiot.

Once a lady returned a wallet that was left at maccas where I work. When we gave it back to the owner, they said 100 dollars was missing. We checked the cameras, and the person who returned it had taken money out of it before doing so. People aren't very intelligent sometimes......

That's why you don't have to be nice nowadays
