Just like here in the U.S. Regional accents vary, but you've got a great ice breaker. Take advantage & find new friends. Eventually, the novelty will wear off & you'll still have people talking to you.

It's a start. Be optimistic. I had a friend ask me if I talked to him only because of the accent. I told him that if I cared about that I'd just turn on BBC or watch The Avengers.
