Of course you're supposed to use soap! You don't just stand in the shower and rinse the rest of your body, why would you think that's adequate for an area that develops a musky odor? You use unscented, plain soap. Maybe you personally have an issue, but any doctor will tell you that most women are supposed to wash with soap and rinse thoroughly.
