Today, I walked into my house to find several of my friends there for a surprise sweet sixteen party my mom was throwing for me. Everything was going great until the doorbell rang and a clown walked in. My mom hired a clown for my sweet sixteen. My friends took pictures. FML

Today, I went to a surprise birthday party for a friend. Everyone was hiding and waiting to yell "Surprise!" when I got a call from my mom. I was loudly discussing family gossip and trying to get my mom to hang up when the door opened. Everyone yelled "Surprise!" and then turned to stare at me. FML

Today, it was my boyfriend's mom's surprise birthday party. I was sent to pick up the very expensive cake and dozens of balloons. Not only was it windy and the balloons flew away, I tripped and dropped the cake. In the driveway in front of all their family and friends. FML

Today, I went to a friend's sweet sixteen. Since I didn't know any else at the party I was really happy when the mother told me she sat me next to someone she thought I would have a lot in common with. He ended up being mentally challenged and talked to a sock puppet the whole party. FML

I know some people are terrified of clowns. I don't particularly like them, because they're... not as funny as they think they are. Regardless, I'm with you on it. I wouldn't like a clown to go to a party of mine. If you're thankfully for everything else, like the gifts, the party, and her inviting your friends, then you should be fine as long as you don't zoom in on the one negative thing. you obviously don't know how to have fun. a clown? at a birthday party? i'd think my mom was masterful, that's absolutely classic. if you knew how to have fun all your guests would have left talking about cool it is that they've actually been to a birthday party with a clown.
