Today, my late sister's kids are in separate foster homes and I was told I can't have custody of them because I'm not a resident of their state (California). I can't afford to live there. FML
That’s insane! Foster care is for when there no suitable family to take the kids so I’m not sure why living in a different state would make you ineligible. Time to lawyer up. It might just be a matter of paperwork to allow the kids to live with you.
