Today, my brother was put in jail for a DUI. When I showed my mother the news article and read it to her she started screaming at me saying “I won’t listen to someone say horrible things about my son!” Last I checked I was her son too and she mocks me fot not being as successful as him... FML

You probably drink cheap beer alone in her basement, while he got smashed on top-shelf cocktails with glamorous people in a fancy club. Except for getting caught driving drunk, he IS more successful than you. Gloating over your brother’s downfall is unbecoming.

Well YDI sounds to me like you took pleasure in reading that to your mother because you envy that she shows him favoritism. Not that I am standing up for your brother but being modest and humble can go a long way.

Your brother has been more successful in life, so your mom brags about him to everyone she knows, however if you throw in a DUI she no longer would be able to brag to her friends how her son is better than theirs. Of course I am assuming that your mother at least tries to treat both of you the same instead of just plain having your brother as the favorite.
