Today, my adult daughter told me if she was ever blessed with a daughter, she already had a name chosen. She said she loved the sound of it, and most people wouldn't know it's meaning anyway. The name? "Flagella". FML

She is right, had to google this to find out. A flagellum is a whip-like structure that allows a cell to move. They are found in all three domains of the living world: bacteria, archaea, and eukaryota, also known as protists, plants, animals, and fungi. While all three types of flagella are used for locomotion, they are structurally very different.

For those who don't know, the word more traditionally means "whip", as in "flagellate".
